This is an interactive PowerPoint lesson aimed at KS1 and KS2 to teach them about different musical traditions from around the world. Pupils will be given the opportunity to explore music from different countries and cultures around the globe, including China, India, Australia, Brazil, Russia, Africa & North America. The focus of each part is to learn where the country is on the map, listen to an example of traditional music from that country and learn a song that is culturally relevant. Pupils will be given the opportunity to develop their listening and singing skills.

By the end of the lesson, pupils will have a better understanding of different styles and genres of music and where they came from as well as developing their understanding of the role of music in different cultures and societies. This is therefore perfect for linking to Geography and History!

Feeling a bit extra? Why not show your class some of the famous national anthems from across the globe!
